Floating ball valve overview and technical parameter description

Floating ball valve opening and closing parts (spheres) are driven by the valve stem and rotate around the axis of the valve stem. It is mainly used to cut off or connect the medium in the pipeline, and can also be used for fluid adjustment and control. The floating ball valve itself has a compact structure, reliable sealing, simple structure, and convenient maintenance. The sealing surface and the spherical surface are often in a closed state, which is not easy to be washed by the medium. Corrosion, easy to operate and maintain, suitable for general working media such as water, solvents, acids and natural gas, and also suitable for media with harsh working conditions, such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane and ethylene, etc., and is widely used in various industries .

Structural features of floating ball valve:

1. Switch instructions for manual floating ball valve

The ball, valve stem, and handle are the moving parts of the valve and are an assembly unit. The head of the valve stem adopts a flat square structure. It is easy to tell whether the valve is in the open or closed position from the position of the handle. When the handle or flat square of the valve stem is parallel to the pipeline axis, the valve is in the open position; when the handle or flat square of the valve stem is perpendicular to the pipeline axis, the valve is in the closed position.

2. Valve locking device


In order to prevent misoperation of the valve, the ball valve of our company is equipped with a keyhole positioning piece in the design to meet the user’s process requirements. The valve can be locked in the fully open or fully closed position of the valve.

3. The valve stem anti-flying structure

When the medium passes through the valve, the pressure in the cavity of the valve body may push the valve stem out. In order to prevent this from happening, a boss structure is provided at the lower part of the valve stem. In this way, even if the packing and thrust bearing are burnt or damaged by other reasons during a fire, the medium pressure in the valve body will make the valve stem boss and the valve body seal close contact, preventing a large amount of medium from leaking from the damaged packing part. .

4. Anti-static device (optional)

When operating the valve, due to the friction between the ball and the valve seat of non-metallic materials such as PTFE, electrostatic charges will be generated and accumulated on the ball. In order to prevent the generation of static sparks, an anti-static device is specially installed on the valve to export the generated static electricity (please contact our company’s salesman for detailed instructions).

5. Fireproof structure (optional)


The company’s floating ball valve seat adopts a unique structure. When a fire occurs, when the non-metallic sealing surface material is burned, the metal ring uses the elastic force of the spring to push the seat and the ball to fit and seal, thereby preventing the spread of fire and the outflow of medium. (The fireproof structure design complies with API607, JB/T6899 and BS755)

6. The middle flange has no leakage structure

The connection between the valve body and the left body is sealed by gaskets. In order to prevent the leakage of the seal due to factors such as fire, high temperature or vibration, the valve body is specially designed to contact the metal metal of the left body to form a stop flange to ensure that there is no Leakage.

7. Automatic pressure relief structure (optional)

When the medium in the middle cavity of the valve changes due to the pressure of the piping system or the temperature of the medium, and the pressure in the middle cavity rises abnormally, the medium in the middle cavity can rely on its own thrust to push the valve seat to automatically release the pressure, thereby ensuring the valve Security.
